Weekly Round-up

19th February

Apologies for the delay … congratulations to St Ives who are holding 3rd place in the Premier evening league, but St Eia are only 2 points behind with another game to play to be equal. Belyars are holding 3rd place in their division - only a few games left now.

Congratulations also to John James, Mike Bennetts, Lawrence Duffy and Jon Baxter who were runners up in the Western Area Triples competition at Marazion last weekend.

This Saturday, 22nd February is the Handicapped Singles Short Mat Club competition at the club, starting at 2pm sharp - all who attend will play, but should also be available for next round next Saturday 29th.

Hope to see you there, either as players or supporters.

12th January

No evening league game for St Eia last week, but St Ives gained 6 points twice, winning both rinks against Penlee and Sinners.

Belyars won by one point overall, gaining 4 points off top of the second division Penzance DoDos.  Western area 4 wood singles were played at St Ives Bowling Club this weekend, with one of our members John James winning on Sunday to go through to the final against Saturday's winner, Ian Sinclaair.

Our next Club Competition is this coming Saturday,  18th January at 2pm - date of final to be confirmed.

2nd January

We are now half way through the Cornwall County Short Mat Bowling Association (CCSMBA) evening league.

Congratulations to St Ives and St Eia who are sitting 3rd and 4th (of nine teams) in the Premier Division.

Congratulations also to Belyars who are in 3rd place (of eight teams) in the Second Division.

All three teams are playing at home this week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening - with a much-needed practice evening on Monday at 7pm, after a month off over Christmas.

Two of the afternoon triples league games have been rearranged this week - keep an eye on our website calendar to see who is playing where and when. Results of the afternoon league awaited.

At present Team 3 are winning the Club Morning League with 14 points - congratulations to Anita, Anthea and John Mc Govern.

Teams 5, 6 and 7 are tying in second place with 8 points, Team 1 have 6 points with Teams 2 and 4 having 4 points. There are still 7 games outstanding, and another 10 weeks to play, so everything can change - take a look under Competitions, Short Mat Bowls, Club Morning League to see who is in which team.
